Copyright and Permission Guidelines

According to U.S. copyright law, a copyright attribution statement is required to reprint or adapt the following (see sections 12.14 - 12.15):

  • Figures published in articles
  • Images from websites
  • Lengthy quotations (usually more than 800 words)
  • Figures, tables, and other images
  • Data
  • Test and scale items, questionnaires, vignettes, etc.
  • Commercial stock photography
  • Clip art
