General Guidelines
  • Ensure your punctuation is correct
    • Map title: In sentence case and in italics
  • Ensure your formatting is correct
    • ​Follow our red format structure and view our examples in black. E.g., Look at the elements of the reference we have italicized. You also italicize that same element in your reference.

Dynamically created maps, e.g. Google Maps

Dynamically created maps are ones that you generate yourself on an app or website; for example, you map out directions on Google Maps.

 

Specific Guidelines
  • As dynamically created maps (e.g., Google Maps) do not have a title, describe the map in square brackets. Follow this with "Retrieved" and the retrieval date.
  • If the map generator has a URL shortener service, e.g., Google Maps does, then shorten the URL.
