APA 7th Citation Guide

General Guidelines

Date Element

• Put the date range of the conference: Provide the date range of the entire conference, not just when the author/s did their session. Write the format in (Year, Month Day-Day).

Title Element

• Conference session titles: Write the title of the conference session or poster presentation in italics and in sentence case. Denote the type of session in square brackets, e.g. [Paper presentation] before the period.

Source Element

• ​Conference title: In regular font and in title case.
• Conference location: Provide the city; state, province, or territory; and country. Input the two-letter postal code abbreviations for U.S. states, and the analogous abbreviations for states, provinces, or territories in other countries, if they use them. 
  • e.g. Atlanta, GA, United States
  • e.g. Melbourne, VIC, Australia
• If the country has no states, provinces, or territories, then write the city and the country, e.g.
  • e.g. London, England
  • e.g. Paris, France

• If the conference session has no DOI then insert the URL to the session on the web - not the database link:
  • 1st preference: Link to the actual session or poster presentation
  • 2nd preference:  Link to the program information.
