Works Not Previously Published or Peer Reviewed

List the author of the white paper (Last name, First name), and the year of the white paper (if the year is not available, use the year it was submitted to the repository). The title should be italicized because there is no "longer work" it is associate with. Follow this with a s description of the work e.g. White paper. Unpublished manuscript. etc. Then include the repository information and the item handle.

Theses and Dissertations

For a thesis or dissertation you will need to include the author, year, and title (italicized). Also state whether it is a "Master's thesis" or a  "Doctoral dissertation." You will then include the handle.

Cite the original publication including author (year), title, journal, volume (issue), page numbers, digital object identifier (DOI).The handle is not necessary.

2. Author Version or No DOI

Cite the publication as you would a publisher/DOI version. However, instead of the DOI, include the handle: "Retrieved from http://hdl.handle,net.xxxxx." You will find the handle on the record page, this is a permanent link to the record.

Poster or Presentation

This citation may be used to reference any form of presentation from a conference or lecture. To cite these please include the author(s) and/or presentor(s) of the presentation, the month and year, the title of the poster/presentation (italicized), the name of the conference or lecture where the presentation was displayed,  and location followed by the handle.
