College of Nursing Guide

A brief guide to finding and using research and other tools for assignments and projects in Nursing.

Find It@Augusta links to full-text documents in the Greenblatt Library databases

Desktop Access to Full-Text Articles

There are two levels of online full-text access to journal articles.

  • Subscribed journals requiring Library user authentication on and off-campus:
    • Mission-critical journals licensed by the Greenblatt Library.
    • Full-text articles within select state-licensed databases via GALILEO.
  • Open access journals not needing authentication:
    • Free access to published scholarly research journals, including biomedicine, from any location
    • Caveat: Some journals control content by preventing access to recent articles, only allowing viewing after several months to several years.

Look for the  Image of FindIt@Augusta button found in database records subscribed to by the Augusta University Libraries  button which is located at the record level in Greenblatt databases such as PubMed, Ovid, Web of Science, and CINAHL.

1. Search a Greenblatt Library database and isolate a single record in the database. Click the FindIt@Augusta button to find if the Library has the full-text document.

2a. FindIt@Augusta links to the Library Catalog, GIL-Find@Augusta University.

2b. NEW STEP: Log on to "My Account" in GIL-Find@Augusta University with JagID (upper right corner of GIL-Find Catalog) OR at the "Sign in for more options" link in the View It window. Successful log in to your GIL-Find accpimt displays your journal holdings in View Online window of the GIL-Find window (see example at #2, #3 below).

2c. When off-campus, the proxy server will require a separate log in with JagID.

3. Electronic holdings are listed in the View It tab of the GIL-Find record. Some GIL-Find records may display electronic holdings in the View It window and print holdings in the Get It window. In the View Online window, choose the hyperlink that covers the date range needed. In this example, click the Nature link since this vendor holds the full-text document.

GILFind@Augusta University displaying full-text document options from a variety of vendors. This is Step Two of the process - after clicking FindIt@Augusta, full-text options may open in the GILFind@Augusta catalog. Step 3 is choosing the right vendor with the date range of full-text articles needed.

4. At the journal site, click the PDF link to download/view/save the full-text document.

Step Four is going to the vendor's website and downloading the full-text document, usually from a "Download PDF" link.

The FindIt@Augusta link may not always go to the article level as in the example above. Sometimes the FindIt@Augusta link may go to the issue or volume level which will require more clicks to drill down to the article level document.

When the Greenblatt Library does not have a journal article in print or online use the Interlibrary Loan service. This same link to this service is also on the Greenblatt Library home page at the Request an Article/Book link.

  • Low-cost service provided by the Library to support research across all published medical journals/books
  • Sign-up for an individual account to request articles or books
  • $7.00 per request for Augusta University or AUHealth
  • Rush Service is available for additional $5.00 per article fee
  • Electronic desktop delivery of article directly to user
