FOLIO Migration Guide

FOLIO

FOLIO - A New Integrated Library System

During the winter break in December 2025, the libraries at Augusta University and all University System of Georgia institutions will begin using FOLIO, a new integrated library system.

A new catalog system, Locate, will replace GIL-Find. Locate will be used to search for physical items in the library's collections, such as books, physical journals, government documents, DVDs, etc. You will also be able to request items from other USG institutions within Locate.

FOLIO is expected to go live in December 2025. As we transition to FOLIO, some services will be limited or frozen, and once the migration is complete, links to items in the old system (GIL-Find) will no longer work.

Here's what you need to know:

  • Current links to items in GIL-Find will not work after we go live on FOLIO in December. If you have catalog links in your courses, they will need to be updated after FOLIO goes live on December 16.
  • Database and article links will still work.
  • Your GIL-Find library account may not work periodically during the late fall. If you have saved records or favorites in GIL-Find, you will need to export them. (See Tips for Instructors.)
  • If you borrow materials from other USG institutions, please note that our GIL Express service will be impacted as we migrate to the new system. On May 19, all books checked out through GIL Express changed from a 28-day loan period with two automatic renewals to a single 90-day loan period with no renewals.
  • You may continue to check out items during the summer, however, if you currently have books out that you no longer need, please return them.
