Open Access Processing Charges (APC) Pilot Program: Award Criteria

Criteria for Awarding APC Coverage

  • Applicants must be an Augusta University faculty member. Excluded from eligibility are adjunct and visiting faculty or alums without an eligible AU co-author. Applicants must be a corresponding author of the publication.
  • Publication must be related to the applicant’s academic discipline or part of an interdisciplinary approach to the work described therein.
  • Publication must be peer-reviewed. (Libraries will check for this during first screening of award applications.)

  • The publishing venue must not be predatory. (Libraries will check for this during first screening of award applications.)

  • Funding is for article processing costs or eBook publishing fees only. Funds do not cover additional costs like images or supplemental data storage.
  • Funding is for publications for which current grant funding is unavailable.
  • Funding is for newly accepted publications. Funds cannot be administered for works already published. 

  • Proof of acceptance must be provided (i.e., a copy of the acceptance letter/email or link to the published full text).

If awarded funds are NOT used (i.e., if additional required funding is not obtained), awardee must contact the Libraries to return the funds.
