Welcome to "Endorphins While Indooring"!

If you're not comfortable with exercising at your local gym yet and going a little stir-crazy, this page is for you!  If it helps you to keep your body moving in times of stress, this section of the guide will collect resources on physical exercise and wellbeing at home. 

Check out this page for some live, local options, as well as YouTube channels that are available anytime.  The resources listed below should be accessible to individuals of all levels, with modifications for those with limited mobility, injuries, or who are just starting out with exercise.  All the resources listed on this page are free or have free options.

Livestream Options

Cardio or High Intensity 

Zumba - Local Zumba instructors Jacqueline Haynes and Alfred Jones III are offering live-streaming classes throughout the week.  The classes are free, but donations are gratefully accepted.  Take a look at our social media for more details.  Classes take place on Zoom. Below is a schedule (ongoing, until fitness classes reopen in local gyms):

American Heart Association -  The AHA is offering recordings and live streams of at-home workouts.  The lineup includes dance workouts, low impact stretch workouts, and high-intensity interval training (HIIT) workouts.   They also offer some resources for living room and Netflix binge-friendly moves to give your body a brief break from Tiger King.  Printable workouts are also available.  

Oxygen Fitness Studio - Oxygen Fitness Studio, in Surrey Center, is offering some free online classes.  Classes are streaming via Zoom and require registration. Classes vary in style, including power yoga, HIIT, and barre.  Note: some classes require payment;  see Oxygen's Instagram for full details and class schedules.  

AU's Campus Recreation - Our very own campus recreation is also live-streaming a variety of workout classes in a variety of styles, including no equipment strength training and yoga.  Check out their Instagram for a streaming schedule and access information.   

YMCA - The OG gym is here for you with videos in a variety of styles, including yoga, Tai Chi, barre, boot camp, and activities for kids.  


Yoga  

Space Yoga Studio - Space Yoga Studio, located on Monte Sano, is live-streaming an hour-long practice every weeknight (Monday-Friday) at 5 pm ET.  They stream on their Instagram and on YouTube, with recordings available indefinitely on their YouTube channel.  You can sign up to receive email reminders about classes on their website and learn more about their non-profit, which works with local organizations to bring no-cost, specialized yoga programs to underserved communities all around the CSRA

AU's Campus Recreation - Our very own campus recreation is also live-streaming yoga!  Check out their Instagram for a streaming schedule and access information.   

Georgia Aquarium - The Georgia Aquarium in Atlanta is uploading and sharing their Yoga by the Water series on their website and YouTube.  If you've ever wanted to look at whale sharks in your warrior II, this series is for you!

High-Intensity Exercise 

Fitness Blender - this channel, run by a husband and wife team, offers thousands of HIIT (high-intensity interval training), strength training,  cardio, kickboxing, and pilates-inspired workouts.  Workouts range from 10 to 90 minutes in length and can be mixed and matched to customize for your mood, ability, and fitness level.  Low impact and other modifications are offered in each workout.  

The Fitness Marshall -  Do you wish you could dance quarantine away?  The Fitness Marshall is here for you.  He uploads choreographed dance fitness routines to popular songs.  He has an extensive back catalog and has been uploading regularly since quarantine began.  These videos are short and fun, sure to help you move a little and feel a lot better.  

PopSugar Fitness - Are you looking for a variety of workouts?  PopSugar's channel has everything from pilates and barre to cardio and strength training.  Videos are short and accessible, with some targeted towards beginners.  


Yoga

Jessamyn Stanley -  This eponymous channel aims to make yoga attainable to all.  Jessamyn uploads short tutorials on poses, as well as full-length classes (note: Jessamyn uses some adult language on her channel.  Skip this one if that doesn't work for you).  

Yoga with Adriene - Adriene offers an approachable and accessible introduction to yoga, as well as videos that will challenge advanced yogis.  Her channel covers a variety of yoga styles, including a number of 30-day challenges.  

Yoga with Kassandra - This channel specializes in a style of yoga called yin yoga, in which you hold passive poses for up to 10 minutes.  The videos are between 10 and 90 minutes long and encompass a number of styles besides yin.  


Accessible Workouts 

Adapt to Perform - The channel features cardio, HIIT, strength, and yoga workouts designed for individuals with physical disabilities.  All workouts can be done from a chair.
