What is an Archive(s)?

Archives can be used to refer to either the place where historical documents are stored, i.e. the "National Archives", or to the act of saving those documents, i.e. "I want to archive my family history."

Archives can be found in a number of physical spaces, including government archives, like the National Archives, historical societies, museums, and public and academic libraries.
