Thesis and Dissertation Preparation Booklet
This official preparation booklet was prepared collaboratively by the University Libraries and The Graduate School as an aid for students and faculty in understanding the policies and procedures regarding the preparation of the thesis/dissertation and events leading up to the Final Oral Examination (Thesis/Dissertation defense).

ETD Boot Camp
It is highly recommended that students attend an ETD Boot Camp the semester in which they start writing the thesis/dissertation. The Boot Camp reviews the templates and the submission process for the thesis/dissertation. ETD Boot Camps are offered by the AU Libraries.
Students are required to adhere to the formatting set forth by The Graduate School and AU Libraries. These formatting guidelines are detailed in the Thesis/Dissertation Preparation Booklet. AU Libraries also provides templates that students can use:

Once you have successfully defended your thesis/dissertation and have completed any revisions requested by your committee, you are ready to submit your thesis/dissertation!
1. Complete the Approval to Publish ETD Form and submit this form with your thesis/dissertation file to TGSenrolled@augusta.edu.
2. Submit thesis/dissertation file to ProQuest Dissertations & Theses database.
There are several options for submitting your thesis/dissertation:
What does this mean? Your full-text ETD will be available in ProQuest to those who subscribe to the ProQuest ETD database, and your full-text ETD will be available to anyone across the internet through Scholarly Commons.
What does this mean? Your full-text ETD will not be available in ProQuest or in Scholarly Commons until your embargo (also known as a restriction period) expires. After your embargo expires, your full-text ETD will become available in ProQuest to those who subscribe to the ProQuest ETD database, and your full-text ETD will become available to anyone across the internet through Scholarly Commons. Student can choose an embargo of any length (e.g., 6 months, 2 years, or 30 years). If student is planning to publish ETD or parts of the ETD in a peer-review journal or as a book, I recommend placing an embargo for at least 3 years.
What does this mean? Your full-text ETD will be available in ProQuest to those who subscribe to the ProQuest ETDdatabase, and your full-text ETD will only be available to AU affiliates through Scholarly Commons.
