Reese Library Liaison Program : For Summerville Faculty

Reese Library Liaison Program is designed to improve communication and collaboration between the Library and its constituencies across the Summerville Campus of Augusta University.

WHAT CAN A LIAISON LIBRARIAN DO FOR YOU?

Liaisons accept responsibility to make themselves known and available to assigned faculty. The ways in which such communication takes place varies and there is no established pattern. Communication may be through an official departmental contact person, visits to individual faculty, scheduled on-site office hours, through printed and electronic communications, by periodic or regular participation in faculty meetings, or by attendance at academic symposia or events.

The role of the liaison librarian is unique to each academic area and the individuals involved. However, the liaison assumes the main responsibility in the areas of collection development, research, and education services.

Specific tasks include:

· Informing faculty of new and existing research tools, methods, resources, and services.

· Collaborating with faculty to encourage the inclusion of the library as an essential component in teaching and learning.

· Serving as first contact for research queries from faculty and students in assigned areas, including requests for individual consultations.

· Creating and maintaining relevant library Research Guides to support the curriculum.

· Collaborating with faculty to determine resources to be added to or weeded from the collection that support the teaching, learning, and research needs of students and faculty.
