Finding journal articles

Most journal articles are accessible online through databases available through GALILEO. Access GALILEO here or access GALILEO through the Reese Library homepage at augusta.edu/reese. 

If you want to search GALILEO from off-campus, all you have to do is enter your JagNet ID and password when prompted.

Search tips

Search tips

  • Use quotation marks to search for a phrase. For example, "feminist art" or "art brut"
  • Put each phrase or concept in a different box. For example, Michelangelo in the first box and “Sistine Chapel” in the second will find articles about Michelangelo's work on the Sistine Chapel.
  • Set search limits such as scholarly journals, full-text, or document type.
  • Sort results by date or relevance, especially if requested by your professor.
  • Look at suggested subjects to narrow your search.
  • Use truncation, for example, "strateg*" will find results with strategic, strategy, strategies

Art Databases

Art Index Retrospective cumulates the printed Art Index volumes 1-32 published between 1929-1984. This bibliographic database lists articles from sources published worldwide, including periodicals, yearbooks, and museum bulletins, as well as reproductions of works of art that appear in indexed periodicals.

Bibliography of the History of Art (BHA) is the world's most comprehensive bibliography of scholarly writing about the history of western art. It includes all articles within the subject scope of BHA regardless of the subject focus of a particular journal, and articles from over 1,200 journals.
