This research guide will help you find the resources you need to conduct your research. Click the tabs above to find information from books, articles, internet resources and more. You will also find information on the differences between scholarly journals and popular magazines and on how to cite your sources. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask.
Strategies:
Use truncation (Puerto Ric* will find Puerto Rico or Puerto Rican for example.)
Use quotation marks to search for a phrase - "Puerto Rico"
Put each phrase or concept in a different box. For example, hispanic in the first box and music in the second will find articles about Hispanic Music.
Set search limits such as scholarly journals, full-text, or document type.
Look at suggested subjects to narrow your search.
When you’ve found what you want:
Use the email feature to send the citation and the article to yourself. You may also print or save the article. Find out how to use your Box account off-campus.
You may choose to use the folder functions to save articles in a personal account. See the ‘folders’ page on this guide for instructions.
