Pure Research Profiles: FAQs

This guide offers an overview of AU's research profiling system, Pure and how to manage profiles.

Pure Research Profiles FAQ

Where are faculty publications pulling from to populate PURE Research Profiles?

Publications are pulled in from Scopus every 7 days.  PubMed ID is also pulled into Pure because there is 100% overlap in content.

What should I do if PURE is missing some of my publications?

Contact the libraries Pure System Administrator at pure@augusta.edu  providing the citations that are missing. A ticket will be turned in with Elsevier and they will review each citation to find out the reason why your publications are not listed.

What is an Automated Search?

PURE researchers can set up an Automated Search for publications in online sources.  Currently automated searches can be set up for Scopus, PubMed, and Mendeley The researchers can opt-in to receive emails when new publications are found on these sources. The initial automated search will search for publications in the last 2 years. The consecutive searches will take place every 7 day. Information about how to set up an Automated Search

How can I add different variances of my name?

There are two different ways you can add name variances in PURE

  1. Log into PURE and Edit your profile and “Add name variant…. This will allow Scopus to find all of your name variances.

  1. If you set up an automatic search, researchers can add name variant to each online sources.

Why do I see duplicate publications in my research profile?

Data is pulled from several online sources, duplications are created when one online source pulls data that is also pulled from Scopus creating a duplicate record.

How can I remove the duplicate publications I find in my research profile?

When a duplicate or triplicate record has been found only Augusta University Administrators can merge the records.  Administrators review new research output each week and merge the duplicate titles, duplicate ISBN, or duplicate DOI that are found.

How do I change my name/title/job title in PURE?

You may have noticed that certain profile information – most notably, your name, title, job title, and start dates are not editable in PURE. This data originates in Human Resources (HR) systems and streams into PURE via monthly data sync. If any of this information is incorrect, you will need to contact the libraries Pure System Administrator at pure@augusta.edu . HR will be notified and corrected so during the next monthly data update the change should take effect in PURE.

I am leaving Augusta University, what happens to my PURE account?

Researchers’ accounts are never physically removed from the system due to multiple reasons of future reporting, records management, and the fact that frequently researchers retain links with Augusta University.  PURE Administrators will remove your profile from the public domain.

Can I authorize someone to look after my PURE profile for me?

Researchers can create a "Trusted User" who will be authorized to enter and maintain your research data for you. See directions on how to set up a “trusted user”.

How can I add another my ORCID Id to my PURE research profile?

Log in and go to your Edit Profile.  Under ID, add ID and select in the dropdown menu Digital Author ID.

Having a second identification number in your profile only strengthens name variants when Scopus publication data is related to researchers at your institution.
