AU Teaching Commons: Guidelines for Reviewers

  • The managing editor reviews all submissions before assigning reviewers to ensure they meet the standard for review.

  • Each submission will have a lead reviewer, most likely a member of the editorial board.

  • The lead reviewer is responsible for coordinating the review and submitting the decision to the managing editor.
  • The lead reviewer is also responsible for initiating any communication with the submitter.

  • The review process is open, and we encourage dialogue with the submitter to address any questions or concerns the reviewers have with the submission.
  • These could include clarification of purpose, more description in the attachment, removal of unnecessary information, or other issues deemed important by the reviewers.

  • The review turnaround time frame is 30 days. We have a simple rubric for the submissions, and qualitative feedback is encouraged during the review process to address any lingering issues.

  • The desire is to accept all submissions if they meet standards. If a submitter is unwilling to make any changes or respond to email communication, we would reject the submission.
